BLOCS YOUTH TEAM
2024/2025 SEASON DETAILS
Our 2024/2025 youth climbing season at BLOCS is underway!
This is a great opportunity for youth aged 14-18 years old to develop their skills, determination, and love for the sport of climbing.
Our coaches are committed to inspiring and developing confidence, strength, mental fortitude, and body awareness in a fun and challenging environment.
Athletes will work with our coaches to develop their skills to help them excel in the sport. The teams will focus on improving technical skills and coordination, gaining flexibility and mobility, and increasing physical strength, all while improving their climbing technique and ability.
BLOCS has two youth teams: a Performance/Competitive Team and a Development Team. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor, just learning to compete, or a newcomer to the sport, we have a spot for you!
Don’t miss the opportunity to make life-long friends, climb in a supportive environment, and continue challenging your technical skills!
Registration for the 2023/2024 season youth team tryouts is CLOSED.
Please contact Rachel at rachel@blocsclimbing.com for any further questions on youth teams.
BLOCS Development Team
This team is a great opportunity for youth to focus on fundamental climbing movements and build the enjoyment of climbing. Athletes will gain exposure to what climbing is as a sport, be introduced to structured climbing training, and develop their technical and tactical climbing skills. In addition, this team is great for athletes looking to compete if they choose to do so in the future! Outside of ability, we welcome athletes who are enthusiastic about climbing, motivated to improve, and receptive to coaching.
This team runs in 4 month session from Sept – Dec and Jan – Apr. If you missed the August tryouts and would like to join in for the winter session, please keep an eye out for the Dec/Jan tryouts!
COACHES:
Brett Hogg, Brynn Stokes
BLOCS Performance Team
This team is intended for athletes who are interested in focusing on performance and competition climbing. Athletes will explore advanced movement, coordination skills common in competition, more extensive physical training, and develop mental strategies to deal with high stress competition settings. Athletes in this team are required to go to competitions and training will be structured around the Provincial and National competition circuit.
This team runs in an 8 month session (with an optional additional 2 months).
COACHES:
Brett Hogg, Rachel Li
TIMES:
This team will meet three times per week.
NOTE: Athletes on the Performance Team will be asked to purchase entry passes to other climbing gyms in the city to practice high wall climbing.
